Steps to be camera ready for your senior portraits!
Whether you've already booked your senior portrait session or still need to, you can begin getting prepared. The hardest part will probably be deciding what to wear but there's more to looking great than just clothes. My clients get professional hair/makeup with their senior sessions but these are things to do even before you set foot in the studio door on the morning of your big day. These steps will go along way in ensuring the best results and those WOW photos!
1. Book your hair appointment
If you get highlights or color and your roots will be saying hello by the time your session date rolls around, be sure you plan accordingly and schedule your appointment in time.
2. Get your nails done
Your nails WILL show in your photos. Poses with your hands near your face can be ruined by chipped polish or unsightly cuticles. Same goes for toes. The cute dress needs those cute sandals. Don't wreck the scene with unkept nails.
3. Groom your brows
At least a week before your session you should groom your brows. This gives for any redness or swelling to go down from waxing or plucking. Go somewhere you trust!
4. Hydrate
Happy skin is hydrated skin. Be sure you take care of your skin from the inside out! It also helps make you glow to have well hydrated skin!
5. Prep your lips
Chapped lips never ever look good in photos. Take a soft toothbrush and exfoliate them at night followed by a great lip balm before bed. This will help be sure your lips are camera ready!
6. Avoid a bad spray tan
Streaks and orange hands can really wreck a photoshoot. Unless you have experience with fake tanning and are 100% sure you trust your process to look natural then just don't. Like really. For real, just don't.
7. Try on your outfits and MOVE in them!
Just because that top looks cute standing still in a mirror doesn't mean it's going to look good in all poses. Put on your outfits with the undergarments you will wear and move around in them. Sit, squat, bend, move. If everything stays where it should then you are good to go! If angles need to be avoided then you might reconsider the fit.
8. Get your beauty rest!
You want to look and feel your best for your photos so be sure you arrive to your session well rested! It's a great day all about you that you will want to enjoy. Come ready to have fun!
