How are you??? I miss my clients, I miss my old life, I miss seeing friends in person, I miss going out to dinner, I miss shopping, I miss traveling, heck I even miss the car drop off line at the school ……the list is endless.
I have to stop myself from feeling sorry for myself because every single one of you are in the same disappointing boat with me!
So what’s the bright side??? What can we do? I mean my pantry is organized, the studio is getting some long awaited updates, my dog loves the extra attention and I get to see my college kids a lot more (even though they would much rather be at school by this point).
Oh, and I finally found out why my kids like TikTok. Wow. That can eat hours right there but VERY entertaining. 🙂
Oh, and is it wrong that I’m thankful for Fortnite? My 10 year old sure does love it …
BUT something is changing. We are starting to see glimmers of hope on the news and families are spending quality time together. I actually bought at bike to ride with my son and tested the logic that you never forget how to ride one. I’m happy to report that is true.
So what are you doing to pass the time? What have you rediscovered in your life that you forgot brings you joy?
For the Class of 2020
You kinda got a bad deal. I get it. I won’t rehash all of the things you are missing out on since that has been well covered on many levels and you’re sick of hearing it. My hope is that you can focus on the BIG things coming your way once all of this is over.
GRADUATION. It will still happen. No, we don’t know what it will look like yet but nothing – not even a worldwide pandemic – can take away your accomplishments and your exciting future. Plan the parties (but hold off on printing a date on invitations) and get ready to CELEBRATE! YOU DESERVE IT!
COLLEGE. If you are headed to school in the fall that is still waiting for you! Find your roommate, plan your dorm decor, start those sorority packets, buy those game day outfits because football games are coming…When? No one knows for sure at this point but touchdowns WILL happen again and you’ll need those jerseys and cute boots! 🙂
Moms, pull out all the old photos and start digitizing them for the slideshow at the grad party. Help your senior clean out the closet to make college move-in day easier. Book those hotel rooms for move in weekend.
You see where I’m going with this? PLAN FOR YOUR FUTURE! It’s coming and much more fun to focus on than another day watching the news and watching our roots grow in. 🙂
Order the grad announcements and thank you notes! Let’s design those party invitations (but hold off on the date). It feels GOOD to look FORWARD!
For the Mama’s
I did something I’ve been needing to do for YEARS. Because my kids are currently 20, 19 and 10 we have some OLD photos and videos from when the older two were little bitty that we never see because they aren’t digital and can’t be seen easily on the TV or computer. I finally went through them all and sent them off to be digitized and archived for safe keeping. I can’t wait to get them back and relive the memories! Just FYI, there are lots of resources out there both locally and online for this. I used imemories.com which had a 20% off coupon with the order.
I have several clients who I have had the joy of doing family portraits for 12 or more years in a row and LOVE having the chance to watch their children grow and change. Pull out those old photos and realize the treasure you have in memories! I can even help you make an album of past sessions or combine them into one!
Look toward the future by scheduling your family session before things get crazy busy again. Make room for the new family portrait on the wall and appreciate this rare time we have with each other…..but go for that run for some alone time too. 🙂
I truly have the best clients ever..during this time sessions have been rescheduled (some more than once) and ordering sessions have gone online/phone. Thank you to ALL…you’ve been flexible and understanding during this crazy time and I appreciate it!
I CANNOT WAIT for the day we can come back together. I miss smiles. I miss hugs. I miss seeing excitement in the eyes of my clients in person.
Focus on the future and find the silver lining in the present. Just know that I MISS YOU and MUCH better days are coming!
